In Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, you can build your farm from the ground up, but no one said you had to do it alone. Why not get an adorable pet that will liven up your days on the farm? That’s right! Alongside your farm animals, you’ll be able to adopt cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes. Here’s how to do just that.

How to Get a Pet in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town

Before you can even think of getting a pet, first you have to build a better home for yourself and your future furry companion. When you first take over your grandfather’s farm, there isn’t a house for you to sleep in. You only have your trusty tent, but this can quickly be upgraded in the first few days. Just upgrade your tent into a log cabin with 20 logs and 2000 gold after you visit Nigel in the Carpenter’s Workshop.

Congratulations! You now have a certified house and space to adopt a pet. Now you just need to head over to Bridget at the Animal Shop and select the ‘Buy a Pet’ option. From there, you will see a large selection of future furry friends that are available to you. They are expensive, however, so make sure you have money to spend before heading over.

Once you have selected your animal companion, you will be able to name them before sending them over to your farm. As of right now, with your Log Cabin, you’ll only be able to adopt one. However, as you expand your house, the number of pets you adopt will increase.

If you’re not sold on getting a pet, you should be made aware of the Pet Derby. This is an event that takes place in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town that is basically a mini-game. If your pet wins, you’ll get bragging rights and 5000 gold. But other than that, pets are just a great source of cuteness. You can walk them, pet them, and feed them as you go about your farming day.
