Capcom has picked Laced Records as its partner to bring the music of the Street Fighter 3 series to vinyl. You can start pre-ordering the Street Fighter III: The Collection vinyl box set now via lacedrecords.com for $80, and it will ship in November 2020. Additionally, all three games in the Street Fighter Alpha series will be getting vinyl soundtrack releases later as well, starting with the ’95 Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors’ Dreams.

Across all Street Fighter 3 releases, composers Hideki Okugawa and Yuki Iwai explored a range of high energy music styles that made the game completely stands out among its competition. Leaning most heavily on jazzy house, jungle, and drum’n’bass with some samba rhythms thrown in for good measure. The Street Fighter III: The Collection four disc box set will include 72 complete tracks from:

  • Street Fighter III: New Generation.
  • Street Fighter III 2nd Impact: Giant Attack.
  • and of course, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight For The Future.

Tracks have been specially remastered for vinyl and pressed onto four audiophile-quality, heavyweight 180g blue and white discs. The discs will be housed in individual spined sleeves within a rigid board outer slipcase. Meanwhile the original sleeve art is drawn by comic book artist Andie Tong (Tron: Betrayal, Spectacular Spider-Man UK, The Batman Strikes!, Tangent: Superman’s Reign).

Street Fighter 3 first comes to the arcades in 1997 with New Generation. Along with new Super Arts mechanics, as its title stands, the game introduced 10 brand new characters besides Ryu and Ken. Later they expanded the roster with Akuma, Hugo, and Urien in 2nd Impact in 1997.

The third and final iteration, 3rd Strike, is widely recognized as one of the greatest fighting games of all time not just thanks to its technical gameplay, catchy soundtrack, and beautiful hand-drawn sprites. But also because of the most memorable moment in competitive gaming, the internet hit ‘Evo Moment #37‘, when Daigo made a jaw-dropping comeback with perfect parries against Justin Wong’s Chun-Li multi-hit special attack.

This is definitely an item worthy of your Street Fighter collection; whether you’re an audiophile or a fighting game fan. So what’s it gonna be? Ready to pre-order the vinyl of Street Fighter 3?
