It takes real street smarts to fight dinosaurs in a biplane.
NIS America has announced two more games that will be included as part of the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection today. Now, in addition to the likes of Ikari Warriors, fans 80’s era arcade classics will also be able to enjoy Street Smart and Prehistoric Isle in 1930. One’s a classic arcade beat ’em up while the other is a dino-themed shooter, and both are SNK classics that any arcade patron can enjoy.
SNK’s Street Smart, it’s much less about actual smart than it is about absurd fighting strength. Unlike the likes of Double Dragon, the goal isn’t to defeat a gang and save the girl. There are no potentially world-ending stakes here either. Instead, players run through a series of street fighting tournaments in an effort to become the national champion. The game supports single player and cooperative play, and players have the choice of being either “Karate-man” or “Wrestler,” not the most original of names, but perfectly adequate for describing their differing styles.
Prehistoric Isle in the 1930’s on the other hand is an SNK shoot ’em up in which two rickety biplanes go on a dinosaur-killing rampage. Also available in cooperative or single-player modes, players can enjoy a horizontal romp across a lost world filled with all manner of giant, prehistoric creatures just itching to take a bite out of their planes. To combat them, they have their trusty machine guns as well as a compliment of bombs and an extra floating turret that can either augment forward fire power or carpet the ground with projectiles. It might sound like overkill, but one can never be too careful when visiting a prehistoric isle.
NK 40th Anniversary Collection launches for Nintendo Switch on November 13.
