Street of Rogue Features
Inspired by games like Binding of Isaac, Streets of Rogue is an action-packed, top-down rouge-lite with “free-form, experimentation-driven, emergent gameplay elements.” If you think that description is nuts, wait until you see the gameplay.
The developers describe Streets of Rogue as “Nuclear Throne meets Deus Ex, mixed with the anarchy of GTA.”
You get to choose how to go about your given missions. If you don’t want to hurt anyone in-game because life is hard enough, you can do that. Do you prefer fighting back by hacking computers? More power to you!
The Streets of Rogue cities that you’ll fight your way through will be randomly generated. This means it has a lot of gameplay variety. It can also mean that you might not leave your room for a while. In terms of the enemies, they will be composed of “super-advanced artificial intelligence.” You’ll have to assert your human dominance by outwitting these supercomputers.
If you don’t want to do it alone, there’s 4-player online and local co-op modes as well. You and your friends can choose from over 20 different characters. This includes a soldier, a stealthy doctor, and even a “hyper-intelligent gorilla.” As mentioned before, there’s a DLC pack to add to this list of playable characters.
Streets of Rogue prides itself on being “the most insanely varied game ever made.” I mean, how many games let you play as a 16-bit hyper-intelligent gorilla in a rogue-lite? Intelligent apes, sure. But hyper-intelligent?
