Studio MAPPA (Attack on Titan Season 4) is taking on the task of creating an anime adaptation of George Asakura’s Dance Dance Danseur.

The studio is taking on another anime series under their belt. The show’s producers announced the anime adaptation on Twitter. While this is not George’s first adaptation, this is the first animated adaptation for one of his manga. Munehisa Sakai (Zombie Land Saga, Sailor Moon Crystal, Yuri!!! On Ice) is directing the series. Hitomi Hasegawa, who has a large number of high-range credits, will provide the anime character’s designs.

Dance Dance Danseur tells the story of Junpei Murao. Junpei is a young man who goes to his sisters’ ballet recital expecting to be bored. He, instead, is moved by the power and grace of the male dancers. He then takes up ballet himself. Junpei is forced to become “the man of the house” after his father dies. As he moves on to traditionally masculine pursuits, he takes up learning martial arts. All of this changes when a new girl transfers into his class and encourages him to re-explore his love of dance.

Their upcoming releases include the original anime Takt.Op Destiny (in collaboration with Studio Madhouse) and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The studio will release the final season of Attack on Titan in January of 2022.
