The National, artists behind Portal 2‘s melodic tune “Exile Vilify” which you can hear in Test Chamber 7 via a hidden area, are working with Valve to create a music video contest based on the track. The recent press release states that participants have until July 15 to submit an entry through YouTube with the tag “PORTAL2NATIONALEXILE.” The National, as well as Valve and their community base, will select the winner who will receive a grand prize package of Portal 2 merchandise and a guitar autographed by The National themselves.
Upon Portal 2‘s release, “Exile Vilify” became quite the hit among players, subtly hinting through the lyrics that the song had been inspired by the game’s mysterious tester known as the “Rat Man.” Now’s your chance to get that plush Companion Cube you always wanted, though I’m not sure that “thinking with portals” will help you this time. Who knows, if your video is creative and effective enough, Valve just may decide to send you that cake you were always promised.
