If you’re looking for an underwater survival game, there’s really no option better than Subnautica. Its cartoonish but mature art style sinks players in, and the survival options are limitless. If you haven’t had the chance to play through it yet, do yourself a favor and go play through it. It’s even on Game Pass if that’s what you fancy. For you Switch users though, you’ve been out of luck when it comes to Subnautica or its upcoming sequel. That is, until now. Announced at Nintendo’s Indie World event, Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero are coming to Switch in early 2021. You can find the trailer featured at the event below.
Subnautica and Below Zero are coming to the Nintendo Switch as part of a partnership with Shiny Shoe and Unity Professional Services. Unknown Worlds Entertainment has been hard at work on these ports for some time now, and are excited to show them off. While we don’t have much more information than that right now, more will come over on their social media channels. Be sure to keep an eye on those for information in the future.
For those of you who don’t know Subnautica though, here’s the run down. Subnautica is a survival game, crash landing players on an unfamiliar planet surrounded by water. Their spaceship has crash landed, and it’s up to them to pick up the pieces while discovering this unfamiliar ocean. Much of it looks like our ocean, but some creatures are a little different compared to what we know. Work your way through the game, build up your base, and find a way off this planet. Subnautica Below Zero takes a similar premise, but focuses more on an ice planet than an ocean. It’s currently in Early Access on Steam, likely set to release fully around the same time.
