Finding certain locations in Subnautica: Below Zero can be the ultimate exercise in patience, or sometimes even random chance. When it comes to the Koppa Mining Site, the game makes no real indication as to where you should head. However, after you have found your way to Delta Station (the location of which will be revealed to you via beacon after a couple of days) you should definitely make your way to the main building there and scan the Alterra Facilities Map pinned up on the wall.

This map will give you a rough idea of where to look for various Alterra sites across Sector Zero and is placed in your PDA under the Logs & Communications area of the Databank, within the maps subsection. If you’re a little rusty on your Greek alphabet there’s Delta (the yellow triangle), Phi (the teal circle with a vertical line through it), Koppa (the brown circle with a line coming from the bottom), Omega (the blue horseshoe looking shape), and Zero (which isn’t Greek, they actually didn’t even use zero, but is the purple circle with a diagonal dash through it).

The Koppa Mining Site Itself

Getting back to the Koppa Mining Site specifically, you can find it underwater on the west side of the landmass that contains Delta Station, about 140 meters down. If you follow the landmass tightly at this depth you should quickly come across a large, well-lit set of doors with the accompanying Koppa symbol. While the entrance to the Koppa Mining Site isn’t too terribly deep, the site itself does extend downwards quite a ways and ends at around 300 meters in depth. There is an abundance of Oxygen Plants within the area, but it is advisable for you to create a rebreather (the recipe for which can be found in a data box 170 meters down in Twisty Bridges) and at least one high capacity oxygen tank (possibly two, as you can cycle them for additional oxygen). Of course, you should have basics like the Seaglide and flippers too. If you happen to have already created a Seatruck by this point just know that there is essentially no way to bring it into the mine and it will have to be left at the doors when you enter.

While in the Koppa Mining Site in Below Zero, be on the lookout for Architect Artifact Q59, which may be a marked location for you if you’ve already found a certain Architect that really gets in your head. Scanning these artifacts isn’t completely necessary for story progression, but doing so can lead you to unlock some incredibly helpful recipes, like the Tether Tool. Make sure you also search the area for databoxes containing the recipes for the Moonpool, the Scanner Room, and the Headlamp. Additionally, there will be fragments scattered across the mining site for the Laser Cutter, the Thermal Plant, and the ever-important Prawn Suit (as well as the drilling arm attachment for the Prawn Suit). Finally, there is a Prawn Suit Jump Jet Upgrade located in a console attached to a storage platform holding inactive Prawn Suits so be on the lookout for that.
