As you work your way through Subnautica: Below Zero, you will likely come to a point where you need Spiral Plant Clippings. With so many plants spread across a variety of biomes in the game, it can sometimes be hard to know which is which and where to go. Here’s a guide to help you not only find some Spiral Plant Clippings but ensure that you never run out during your Below Zero playthrough.

Why Do I Need Spiral Plant Clippings?

Spiral Plant Clippings (along with Rubies) are an essential component in Subnautica: Below Zero for the fabrication of Synthetic Fibers. Synthetic Fibers are used in the construction of various helpful items throughout the game. One such piece of gear, the Stillsuit, will literally leave you dripping in extra drinking water, eliminating the need to constantly go hunting for Bladderfish. I seriously felt like Robin was going to get water poisoning with how much water I had. You also use Synthetic Fibers to craft things like the Reinforced Dive Suit, the 1st depth module for the Prawn Suit, and the second depth module for the Seatruck. If you’re worried because you don’t have the recipe for Synthetic Fibers, don’t be. As soon as you collect your first Spiral Plant Clipping you will unlock it.

Where Can I Find Spiral Plants in Subnautica: Below Zero?

The easiest location for finding Spiral Plants is undoubtedly Ventgardens. These ginormous jellyfish-looking leviathans are located in the Tree Spires biome which is adjacent to the Thermal Spires, the Lilypad Islands, Delta Island, and the Purple Vents. Once you start seeing tree-like vents spewing smog that are covered in bright pink coral you’ll know you’re in the right place. You will also see Juvenile Ventgardens floating around as an indication.

Once you’ve found one of the two Ventgardens in the area you will need to swim up the bottom entrance of them to get inside. This entrance is located between their tentacles and is a pretty tight fit, but you can get in. Once inside look for a white, fibrous plant with crimson rings surrounding it. This is your Spiral Plant! Take out your survival knife and take yourself a couple of clippings. You can take these clippings and place them in a submerged Exterior Growbed once you get back to your seabase to essentially create a never-ending supply of Spiral Plants and their associated clippings.
