Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed that they are not currently working on the Sly Cooper or Infamous series and confirmed that no other studio is taking on the projects either. In recent years, Sucker Punch returned to the spotlight for being the brains behind the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima. Even though they haven’t confirmed anything, a sequel to that would be the most probable decision in the near future.

What Did Sucker Punch Productions Say About the Matter?

The announcement from Sucker Punch came via a blog post created to commemorate the studio’s 25th birthday. The teams’ projects speak for themselves, and on top of the three series we have already mentioned, the studio also developed the N64 platform game Rocket: Robot on Wheels in 1999.

The blog post was Sucker Punch Productions’ most effective method to get the message across. There have been rumors about the possibility of a new addition to the Infamous series and a Sly Cooper sequel.

The blog post reads as follows:

“As our games continue to grow in scale and complexity, they require the full attention of our studio. With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit Infamous or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either.” They went on to add, “These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now, there are no Infamous or Sly Cooper games in development.”

It’s not all bad news from Sucker Punch, though, because they have said they will be working on existing titles from the Infamous series, more specifically, Infamous 2, which is set to get some UGC server maintenance work. The studio aims to move them to a new home to keep them running for as long as possible before the inevitable drawing of the curtain becomes a must.
