Having begun construction in June 2017, Universal Studios Japan was due to open the Super Nintendo World themed area of the park in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Unfortunately, the Olympics have been postponed, but that doesn’t mean work on Super Nintendo World would be delayed till next year as well. In fact, the whole thing is looking pretty much finished in a new ariel photograph that comes courtesy of imaiko02 over on Instagram.

You can see the picture a little bit below (no skipping ahead) and it gives us a great look at the attraction before it opens.

The picture itself was taken from a drone and whilst it’s from quite a distance, it does show the entire layout of Super Nintendo World in all its colorful beauty. I won’t make you wait any longer, just look at it in all its wonder.

Even from that glimpse, I can’t wait to get back over to Osaka and try the park out for myself.

Super Nintendo World is still on schedule to open at some point this year and is set to be a completely separate area of the park that will include its own food and merchandise.

Two rides have so far been confirmed, one based on Super Mario Kart and the other based on Yoshi. You’ll also notice a replica of Peach’s castle as well as Bowsers. It’s obvious which one is cooler.

Hopefully, we’ll see more information in the coming months when attractions may start to open again. This looks special and I can’t wait to see more. I’m excited to see the place full of people dressed as our hero, Luigi.
