We’ve seen quite a lot of coverage on Super Nintendo World in recent months. The special area in Universal Studios Japan is set to open on February 4 next year, and from what’s been shown it looks absolutely incredible if a little small. At the start of the year, Nintendo revealed that Super Nintendo World would make use of “power wristbands” that would enhance the experience of the park for the many visitors it’s likely to get, especially when this pandemic starts to subside.
Not much was know about the bands, however, Nintendo has now launched a webpage dedicated to them, offering fans some ideas of how they will work. The page can be found here, but be warned, it’s all in Japanese. Obviously. The bands will be worn by patrons of Super Nintendo World, and come with a range of designs based on the Mario franchise. Whilst the Luigi band is the only choice it’s nice to learn how they should work.
When used at Super Nintendo World, the power wristbands will be able to access select content across the site and will keep track of the users’ high scores in the park. Also, as a nice touch, they can be used with the Nintendo Switch as a substitute Amiibo. Grab the Mario band and it will act as a Mario Amiibo, Luigi for a Luigi one, etc. A quick tap of the band on the right analog stick of the Switch will allow them to work just as any normal Amiibo would. It’s a nice extra touch that allows memories of the park to be taken home.
